A serious decision deserves a thorough assessment.

When a dog’s behaviour becomes part of an official enquiry or legal dispute, the consequences can be significant for the dog, their family and the people around them.

A considered assessment brings together the history, available evidence and observed behaviour.

It explains the concerns, identifies relevant risk factors and sets out practical recommendations, giving those making decisions a clearer basis to work from.
Legal proceedings

Independent assessment and reporting where a dog’s behaviour is relevant to a case. The purpose, questions to address and reporting requirements are agreed before instruction.

Councils & housing

Behavioural concerns, reported incidents and decisions about dogs in homes or shared environments, with clear recommendations for management and safety.

Children & safeguarding

Assessments where dogs’ behaviour is relevant to a child’s home environment or a proposed placement, considering the people, dogs and circumstances involved.

EXPERIENCE THAT MATTERS

Animal behaviour expertise. A police perspective.

I’m Kat Williams, a Clinical Animal Behaviourist with a first class honours degree in animal behaviour, a veterinary nursing background and more than ten years of hands-on work with dogs and their owners.

My Metropolitan Police career gave me practical experience of assessing risk, documenting evidence and working within formal procedures. That background informs the care and clarity I bring to independent assessments.

My experience includes assessments for local authority decision-making, work involving children’s services, and court-related work.

I understand how important it is to distinguish what has been reported, what has been observed and what can reasonably be concluded.
